The
Harford Ballet Company, Inc. (HBC) established residency in the
spring of 1997 at the Dance Conservatory of Maryland located in
Bel Air, Maryland. Under the artistic direction of Ms. Pamela Villeneuve
(pictured to the right), a core group of pre-professional dancers
aged 10 to 13 years formed to participate in a positive, high-caliber
dance experience in a professional format. Their goal was to create
a unique opportunity for personal growth and expression of their
artistic skills through outreach programs designed to educate, enrich,
and entertain audiences throughout Harford County.

Today,
in continuation of this mission, HBC consists of pre-professional
dancers aged 10 through adult who must audition each year and commit
through a contract to a rigorous schedule of technique classes,
rehearsals, and performances.
HBC
is a classical and contemporary ballet company, which annually presents
two major productions in Harford County. These productions, in addition
to numerous community programs, are designed to enhance the cultural
and educational experience of both children and adults while showcasing
the talent of HBC Dancers. HBC has in the past donated a portion
of proceeds to the Family Tree, a non-profit organization committed
to strengthening families and heightening the awareness of child
abuse and neglect throughout the state of Maryland. Since its inception,
HBC has raised approximately $6,500 for the benefit of the Family
Tree. This year, HBC takes up partnership with the Empty Stocking
Fund. This charity is 90% volunteer operated, helping to get presents
to poor children who would otherwise have giftless holidays. Our
holiday Nutcracker performance is particulary fitting for this organization.
